The MacBook Air will dissappear next year, and let me tell you why.

First off, whoever came up with the idea wasn't really thinking. How can you cram a MacBook Pro into a thing half its size? You can't, thus making it harder to find parts in the future because it's a whole different ballgame.

Second, it wasn't a big success, heck, even the song used in the advertisement was bought more than the machine itself. That also matches up with the above statement of not being able to find parts. No one needs them, hence places not stocking up.

Finally, is there really anything else they can do with it? You can't have a machine like that, with the power it has, be that liable. I have a MacBook Pro from 2006 and it can hardly hold up with CS4 Master Collection, Logic Studio, and Snow Leopard. The machine overheats all the time, the SuperDrive gave up twice, the screen is dented, and the paint job is now disgusting after so much use. They didn't need to stuff the specs of the better models for something that can't even be used past the simple stuff. I can hardly run GarageBand or Pages on my MacBook Pro, what makes them think it'll handle it better?

Will it become the first computer to become flash drive based? No, look at the iPods, people are scared to use it for media other than music because they're so unstable. It's not going to go anywhere, and it's going to go rot with Lisa and Newton. 3 months, 2 weeks ago

Apple has, in my mind, always had platform leadership over Microsoft (Windows) in terms of quality. With Windows 7, Microsoft is doing pretty well, but what changes everything, in my opinion, is the Web. Now, the value Apple used to bring is somewhat lessened. I exchanged my 3.06 24" iMac that i bought on MONDAY NIGHT, for a 27" quadcore iMac they released yesterday. Best part is, I saved $150 and I even get a magic mouse.

You can BTO one of the new Quad-proc iMacs with an i7!

This is the same chip as the entry-level Mac Pro.
