    I'll post this here because I though it was thought-provoking, but the writer seemed to mis a lot of implications and such I felt where very strongly there in the series: www.guardian.co.uk

    The article claims both that racism and sexism from the time are belittled (reduced to just the occasional comment) which I don't really agree with, in both cases it feels like mad men does a great job of not making anyone seem oppressive while getting across the idea that there is a ceiling that you will rarely get above.

      It reads like a critical analysis report for an english class. The show isn't an expose on the advertising world in the 60s. It's a television series on a cable network. It's meant to entertain, not to undercover the whys of it all. What the author of the article is looking for can be found on the History channel. 1 month, 2 weeks ago

      Exactly, as pointed out a few times in the comments. I thought some of the views were in stark contrast with the episode I watched tonight, 'The Colour Blue', which featured some of the most overtly sexists elements in recent episodes.
